  • Become experts in your specifications so they can mentor team members throughout the project.
  • Carefully staff the project with the right team members in the right roles.
  • Provide project-specific training to all team members.
  • Effectively communicate with you and the team to provide status updates, relay information, and remove any obstacles.
  • Supervise all project staff, providing feedback, encouragement, and direction.
  • Check for quality at various stages of project completion.
Who Our Leadership Teams Are
  • Often, project leaders are former writers or editors who have shown outstanding leadership abilities in past projects.
  • Many project leaders have 20+ years of experience in leadership and/or content development and advanced degrees in a related field.
  • A Pass leadership teams are trained on all A Pass tools and processes to provide a consistently smooth experience for every project.
  • A Pass leaders are creative problem solvers with the authority and capability to adapt to the project’s needs, adjust timelines and priorities as needed, and use their unique experience and knowledge to recommend processes or EdTech tools that best suit your learners’ needs.

Project Directors

You’ll meet your project director before the project even starts. Along with your account manager, your project director helps define the project needs and develops a proposal. Once the contract is executed, your project director plans, staffs, and manages the project, serving as your point of contact while the A Pass team completes the work, checking in with you periodically and ensuring that you’re satisfied with the outcome.

Project Managers

Each A Pass project manager is experienced in project management tools and techniques. They work with the team to keep everything on track, following both general project management and A Pass-specific best practices. Your A Pass project manager provides status updates, communicates your priorities to the team, and delivers the completed product to you.

Speaking to the Audience: The Content Team

What Our Writing Teams Do
  • Learn and apply your tone, specifications, and objectives to write for your learners
  • Apply best practices for writing instructional content and assessment items, adjusting as needed for your style and other guidelines
  • Synthesize information from subject matter experts and instructional designers
  • Work in your templates and/or on appropriate platforms
  • Create materials and assessment items that are aligned to the standards you provide
Who Our Writing Teams Are
  • A Pass writers and editors have unique content development backgrounds, ranging from accounting to zoology.
  • Most of our writers and editors have 20+ years of experience in a variety of K-12, higher education, teaching, industry, and government areas. Most have been with A Pass for 3 years or more.
  • The majority of our writing team members hold Master’s degrees in education, teaching, training, curriculum and instruction, journalism, or their primary subject area.
  • Every A Pass writer has been thoroughly assessed based on their writing skill and knowledge of Bloom’s taxonomy, Webb’s DOK, and other educational theories. Developmental editors pass the same assessments, often starting as writers, but also demonstrate proficiency in editing, mentoring, and supervision.
  • A Pass project directors carefully review your requirements and select team members from our database who have the talent and knowledge necessary for your project.

Writers

A Pass writers understand the importance of voice, reading level, and tone when developing content that speaks for you. Our writers don’t write for themselves or for us; they become your writers! Your learners expect to hear your tone and style in educational content, and that’s what they’ll get. Writers begin a project by reviewing all specifications, style guidelines, and other project resources. They research any necessary standards and project-specific topic information, and then they begin writing. As needed, they provide citations and source materials for their work. On projects where images are necessary, writers can source images or write art specifications for our in-house artists. Their only goal is to provide your learners with the content, assessments, or other text that they need.

Developmental Editors

A Pass developmental editors ensure consistency, focusing on the big picture. Almost every project that needs writers includes developmental editors. Our developmental editors review for content, standards alignment, and structure, checking learning materials against your specifications and style requirements. They offer feedback to writers and determine when content is ready to move to the next stage of the development process.
In gap analysis projects, developmental editors review your materials to identify where content, standards alignment, or instructional rigor needs a little something more. They use their expertise to guide your content developers’ efforts, helping you take your content from great to amazing.
In many projects, we also employ a Lead Developmental Editor. This project leader offers feedback and advice to writers and developmental editors in addition to performing one of our many quality reviews.

Copy Editors

A Pass copy editors know the meaning of perfection! Our detail-oriented copy editors provide the final polish to your material, checking for typos and proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. They know Chicago Manual of Style and AP style better than anyone, but they also take the time to check all text against the style guidelines you provide. In many cases, they also check documents against your formatting guidelines to make sure everything delivered to you is the best it can be.
In larger projects, a lead copy editor supervises and provides feedback to copy editors. These project leaders quickly turn into experts on your style preferences, performing quality checks after copy editors complete their work.

These masters of educational theory ensure that your instructional materials meet learners’ needs, whether that’s through a needs analysis, creating blueprints and storyboards, or recommending the right EdTech solutions for your organization.

Subject Matter Experts

A Pass subject matter experts know their stuff! Because writers usually have remarkable topic knowledge, subject matter experts aren’t used on every project. When there’s a niche topic or another reason for additional fact-checking, A Pass subject matter experts are available. These highly educated consultants share their expertise with the team and check all content for accuracy, researching for confirmation when needed. Their practical and theoretical knowledge of the subject – from accounting to zoology – provides an even higher level of meticulous review to our work.

Graphic Design/Production Specialists

Our art and production specialists have the skill to put that extra “wow” in your material! Our team of art and production specialists includes graphic artists, animators, video producers, and course developers. Whether they’re identifying stock images, creating custom graphics, or developing eLearning courses, these technical professionals combine the writing team’s content with your technical specifications to develop incredible learning programs.

Free eBook: Getting Learners Actively Involved

Educational and training writers know that students will only learn if they become engaged in the learning process. According to the A Pass resource “Getting Learners Actively Involved,” this involves challenging learners to engage in exercises and activities that pique their interest and motivate them to do more.
